The hydrocarbon joint venture partners have restarted work to reperforate the well at its licences PEDL180 and PEDL182 in Wressle, North Lincolnshire.
Site operator Egdon Resources Ltd mobilised the workover rig and associated services and equipment onto site last week (beginning 4 January).
The work will enable the Ashover Grit reservoir to be flowed before the end of January 2021, producing a constrained rate of 500 barrels of oil per day (bopd) increasing output by 150 bopd when fully on stream.
Licence holders include Egdon Resources plc (30%), Union Jack Oil plc (40%) and Europa Oil & Gas (Holdings) plc (30%).
During testing at Wressle, a total of 710 barrels of oil equivalent per day were recovered from three separate reservoirs of Ashover Grit, the Wingfield Flags and the Penistone Flags.
Further development, including producing additional reserves existing in the Penistone Flags formation, is expected in the future.
Europa’s chief executive Simon Oddie said: “With oil prices trading above $50 per barrel, far above the $17.6 per barrel required for the field to break even, we are keen to bring Wressle into production at the earliest opportunity, so the commencement of operations at the site is most welcome.”
In September 2016, a report provided independent estimates of reserves and contingent and prospective oil and gas resources for Wressle of 2.15 million stock tank barrels classified as discovered (2P+2C).
