The West Newton joint venture (JV) has today had its plans for six more wells refused by East Riding of Yorkshire Council.

RECOMMENDATION
The partners had hoped to treble the site from two existing wells, WN-A and WN-A2, to drill and produce oil over a period of 25 years.
A public consultation was held earlier this year and, in their report, a planning officers recommended the proposal be approved.
The plans have been opposed by local residents, parish councils and campaigners.
The JV for PEDL183 comprises operator Rathlin Energy (UK) Ltd (66.67%), Reabold Resources plc (59% share in Rathlin and a 16.665% licence share) and Union Jack Oil plc (16.665%).
