United Oil & Gas plc has ended its 2023 drilling programme with the ASD S-1X exploration well on the ASD south prospect on the Abu Sennan licence, onshore Egypt.
COMMERCIAL
Drilling began on 11 November and reached a total depth of 3,450 metres on 12 December, ahead of schedule and under budget.
The well was logged and petrophysical analysis indicated a total 9.5m net pay across the targeted Abu Roash C (AR-C), Abu Roash D (AR-D), Abu Roash E (AR-E), Bahriya and Kharita formations, with 6m net pay encountered in the primary AR-C reservoir.
If flow rates from testing prove a commercial hydrocarbon accumulation, the project partners will submit an application for a development lease for the ASD south area.
The JV is also finalising a comprehensive drilling programme for 2024 on the Abu Sennan licence.
Operations are anticipated to start in early January with the drilling of the ASH-10 development well on the ASH field.
United holds a 22% working interest in the licence, which is operated by Kuwait Energy Egypt.
