Operator Reach Oil and Gas Company Inc will drill the well, the partnership’s fourth, to a target depth of 5,500 feet.

Union Jack, with a 45% working interest, said it had already met its costs from existing cash resources for Moccasin, Taylor and the two Andrews wells.

The company also receives additional revenues from its US mineral royalties.

Executive chairman David Bramhill added that, if successful, Moccasin had the potential to be significant for the company and its future.

“Notably, we have meaningful interests in all our principal projects that we believe will assist in being able to deliver on our stated growth strategies in both the UK and USA.”

The joint venture’s Taylor 1-16 well, spud in November 2024, was drilled to a total depth of 4,577 feet.

Reach has encountered “three potential production zones” of Hunton, Misener and Cromwell which are undergoing completion and testing.

“The deepest formation, the Hunton has been perforated and the reservoir fluid is light oil with no water, however, to achieve maximum flow a vacuum pump will be deployed to increase the rate at which this zone will be pumped,” said Union Jack.

“The vacuum pump is expected to be delivered to site within 14 days and in the meantime the well will be perforated this week to test the next reservoir target up-hole, the Misener zone.

“Ultimately, it is anticipated that the production from all three reservoirs will be co-mingled.”

The company continues to receive revenues from its UK joint venture at Wressle in North Lincolnshire while Keddington in the east of the county is expected to restart operations in early 2025.
