The company said operator Reach Oil & Gas Company Inc had signed a drilling contract for the Andrews-1-17 well with a local firm.
Groundworks are complete and a spud date due on or around 20 March 2024.
Drilling, expected to last approximately 10 days, will reach a depth of 5,200ft including perforating and flow-back if successful.
The well is targeting one of the Oklahoma’s main hydrocarbon reservoirs, the Hunton Limestone.
Union Jack holds a 45% working interest in Andrews-1-17 which has 75% geological chance of success, based on Reach’s estimate.
Executive chairman David Bramhill added that, if successful, the well could start producing within weeks from spudding.
“The rate of progress from generating a drillable prospect, obtaining permission to drill and putting a rig onsite in Oklahoma is remarkable.”
