UK Oil & Gas plc (UKOG) said planning approval for its wholly owned Loxley onshore gas project in Surrey has been upheld by the High Court.

The ruling follows a series of legal actions by local protesters and different local authorities after the company successfully appealed against initial refusal in December 2020.
UKOG aims to supply gas to reform into hydrogen and also plans a Dorset hydrogen storage and hydrogen battery project.
Chief executive Stephen Sanderson said of the High Court ruling: “We are pleased that Mrs Justice Steyn has dismissed the legal challenge to our Loxley project and has confirmed that its planning consent is entirely lawful, as the company and its counsel has maintained.
“We believe that a successful project will be beneficial to local and national level energy and economic interests and is fully in keeping with the government’s hydrogen and energy security strategies.”
