Approval covers extension of the existing site to drill two new wells and construction of gas processing facilities and an underground gas pipeline to connect Wressle to the local gas distribution network.

The field lies within PEDL180 and PEDL182 on the western margin of the Humber Basin.

Partners comprise operator Egdon Resources plc with 30%, Europa oil & gas (Holdings) plc, 30%, and Union Jack Oil plc, 40%.

Europa chief executive Will Holland said that the programme would increase oil production and monetise the associated gas from the field, with “zero routine flaring” at site.

“Domestic production accounts for less than 50% of demand in the UK, yet this provides economic and environmental benefits when compared to imports.”

In January of this year the partners said that a new competent person’s report noted a 263% increase in 2P gross reserves.

The Wressle-1 well was averaging 665 barrels of oil per day, with a decision pending on whether to increase the pump rate.
