Ormonde Mining plc technical advisor Steve Nicol has been appointed chief executive officer of investee TRU Precious Metals Corp.
He has been a director of the Canadian company, alongside Ormonde’s executive chair Brian Timmons, since Ormonde’s investment in 2023.
He is also a director of Ormonde’s other investee company Peak Nickel Ltd.
Mr Nicol is a mining executive, with more than 35 years’ experience in operations management, mine evaluation and development, and other corporate roles.
His experience covers base, precious and speciality metals, open pit and underground mining, CIL, flotation, and gravity processing, and direct hands-on management of all phases of diverse mining projects from early-stage exploration to mine closure and rehabilitation.
He has held operations management positions in various underground and open pit mines, culminating in a 13-year period as managing director and project manager of the Barruecopardo tungsten mine in Western Spain.
Mr Nicol is a generalist with an environment, social and governance as well as economic focus.
Ormonde has gold and copper exploration interests in Newfoundland and battery metals in Scotland.
