Tertiary outlines 2023 copper exploration at Mukai

Tertiary Minerals plc has outlined its 2023 exploration programme for copper and nickel at the Mukai project in northwest Zambia.

Programme: Tertiary anticipates to start follow-up drilling at Mukai during 2023 (Tertiary Minerals)

MUKAI

Mukai lies within 27066-HQ-LEL, covering 55.4km2 and located 125km west of Solwezi.

The project is in the Domes region of the Zambian copper belt and next to First Quantum Minerals (FQM)’s major copper mines.

Tertiary has a technical co-operation and data sharing agreement with FQM for Mukai and a second project, Mushima North.

Local partner Mwashia Resources Ltd owns both licences as well as Konkola West and Lubuila.

Tertiary holds options to earn up to a 90% interest in all four licences.

2023 OUTLINE

The company will collect 475 samples on 300m x 300m grid with field pXRF analysis returning real time copper and nickel values to allow immediate follow up on tighter sampling grid.

Tertiary anticipates to start follow-up drilling during 2023.

There will also be more detailed work adjoining the Tirosa prospect, discovered by FQM, where historical soil sample anomalies “may continue” into the Mukai licence.

PERMITS

The company added it was still awaiting approval of its environmental project brief from the Zambian Environment Management Authority, and for a forest permit before exploration can begin.

Tertiary also holds 90% of the Jacks copper project with an option to purchase for US$3.5 million at any time the remaining 10% held by licence holder Mwashia.
