Tertiary begins 2023 Zambia exploration at Lubuila

Tertiary Minerals plc will start its 2023 exploration season in Zambia at its Lubuila joint venture (JV) project in the central African copper belt.

Campaign: the seasonal rains in Zambia have nearly stopped, allowing the company’s exploration to begin (Tertiary/Mwashia)

LOCAL PARTNER

The company’s partner Mwashia Resources Ltd has the right to earn in up to 90% of four licences including the Lubuila, Mukai, Konkola West and Mushima North projects.

Lubuila is within exploration licence 27065-HQ-LEL, covering 334km², and is located 90km west of Luanshya.

PROGRAMME

The company’s activities will next week begin with a soil sampling programme, targeting untested areas of interpreted prospective Lower Roan Group.

Sub-contractor Geo-Junction Consulting Ltd will collect approximately 300 soil samples on a 400m by 400m offset grid, and follow with in-field analysis using a portable XRF analyser1 (pXRF).

There will then be immediate follow-up sample selection and analysis over zones of anomalous soil geochemistry.

Tertiary said that tribal and community engagement begins this week to gain approvals, offer casual employment and hear opinions on the project site’s access and conditions.

INTERPRETATION

Executive director Patrick Cheetham added that the seasonal rains in Zambia had all but stopped, allowing exploration to begin.

“Our interpretation of aeromagnetic imagery at Lubuila suggests that large areas of prospective Lower Roan lithologies remain untested by previous explorers and these areas are the focus of our first round of exploration.”
