The potential customer’s laboratory testing will include milling and mixing the sample with other cementitious materials for evaluation.

Earlier this month, Sunrise announced that the CS project was “mine-ready” with key operating permits covering 14.5 million tons of pozzolan and 1.3mt of perlite.

An additional area, the Northeast Zone, measuring 1.3km by 0.6km with a drilled thickness of over 40m from surface, presents a large further target.

The company also has the earlier stage Hazen project, near Reno in northern Nevada.

Sunrise said it had been in talks with “various groups” for some time over securing investment and offtake agreements to develop both projects.

Test work is progressing with four separate groups including a large multinational cement company in the western USA; a multinational industrial minerals producer; an industrial minerals company and a private group.

Discussions cover offtake arrangements, joint production arrangements and the outright
sale of one or both pozzolan projects.
