‘Substantial’ copper-in-soil anomaly defined at Mukai

Tertiary Minerals plc has defined a substantial copper-in-soil anomaly from soil samples at the Mukai copper earn-in project in northwest Zambia.

HIGH GRADE

Analysis using a portable XRF instrument in the field of 526 soil samples showed the “large high-grade” anomaly with values in excess of a 160ppm copper across 1,300m by 400m.

Peak soil value was reported of 1,660ppm copper (0.16%) and soil values averaging 252ppm.

The company said that the anomaly was part of a broader copper-in-soil anomaly defined by 162 samples over 1,800m by 800m.

A subset of samples will be sent for check analysis and the soil sampling crew will shortly mobilise to the Mushima North project.

Tertiary’s option to earn-in has also been extended because of previous administrative delays in obtaining forest permits at Mukai and Mushima North.

The company is also completing pXRF analysis of infill samples from the Konkola West licence soil sampling programme.

Executive chairman Patrick Cheetham added: “The anomaly stretches to our property boundary with mining licences owned by First Quantum Minerals as part of the Trident mining complex and where soils have a lower copper content but where, nevertheless, drilling has found significant copper sulphide mineralisation.

“This enhances the prospectivity of the main part of the anomaly on the Mukai licence which now presents an exciting target for drill testing.”
