Serica Energy plc has secured a two-year extension to its OFAC licence and secondary sanctions assurance relating to the Rhum field in the UK Northern North Sea.

BENEFIT
The licence and assurance permit certain US and US-owned or controlled entities, and all non-US entities, to continue providing goods, services and support to the field.
Issued by the US Office of Foreign Assets Control, the licence was previously extended by two months to 31 March 2025 but will now end on 28 February 2027.
Serica has a 50% joint ownership of the licence with Iranian Oil Company (UK) Ltd,
The company said that the Rhum field had benefited from an OFAC licence since 2013.
