Scotgold appoints Phillip Day as new chief executive

Scotgold Resources Ltd announced that Phillip Day (formerly Phillip Edward Day-Banner), aged 47, will be the company’s new chief executive following current CEO Richard Gray‘s retirement.

The Australian senior mining executive, with a career spanning more than 25 years, is due to be appointed on 1 April 2021. 

Mr Day was most recently head of technical and operations at mining investor, Pala Investments, while also holding executive and non-executive positions in several of Pala’s portfolio companies.

These included chief operating officer and non-executive director at Sierra Rutile Ltd and Nevada Copper Corp. 

Mr Day previously held senior management positions at AMEC Americas, BHP Billiton, WMC Resources, Minara Resources and Wiluna Gold.

His former directorships and/or partnerships within the past five years also include Melior Resources Inc and its wholly owned subsidiary Goondincum Resources Pty. Ltd from July 2019 to 2 October 2019.

Mr Day graduated from Murdoch University with a Bachelor of Science in Metallurgy and Chemistry and is a Fellow Member of the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (FAusIMM).
