Scirocco reports progress for Ruvuma and Kiliwani North

Scirocco Energy plc reported operational progress at its gas interests at Ruvuma and Kiliwani North in Tanzania.

Coverage: improved seismic resolution is needed at Kiliwani North (Scirocco Energy)

RUVUMA

The company holds a 25% non-operated interest on the Ruvuma production sharing agreement.

Operator ARA Petroleum Tanzania Ltd (APT) is directing a seismic acquisition programme and preparations to drill the Chikumbi-1 (CH-1) well.

APT has also further advanced the well planning for the CH-1 well with all long lead items contracts now executed.

Scirocco said that APT was now targeting a spud date for the CH-1 well in November 2022.

KILIWANI NORTH

Scirocco holds an 8.39% non-operated working interest in the Kiliwani North development licence (KNDL), located on Songo Songo Island, and contains the Kiliwani North-1 (KN-1) well.

The company said that the operator, Aminex plc, today announced that any future drilling was contingent on an improved seismic resolution of the prospective target structures.

Aminex has also agreed with Pan African Energy Tanzania (PAET) to utilise their high-resolution 3D seismic campaign over the adjacent Songo Songo field.

Due to start mid-year, the operator will receive some 12.5km² of new high-resolution 3D coverage over KNDL, at no cost to the joint venture.

Chief executive Tom Reynolds added that the progress represented long awaited activity on both blocks which were “significant value catalysts for Scirocco shareholders”.
