Scirocco JV assesses drill location at Chikumbi-1 well

Scirocco Energy plc said that its joint venture (JV) partner had received the first batch of seismic data to determine the drilling location for the Chikumbi-1 (CH-1) well, on the Ruvuma PSA in Tanzania.

Process: Scirocco is also in negotiations to sell its 25% interest in the project (Aminex)

PREPARATIONS

Ruvuma contains the Ntorya gas field from which the company expects a development into a large onshore gas discovery near market and infrastructure.

Operator ARA Petroleum Tanzania Ltd (APT) is due to process and interpret sufficient data before the end of August.

APT also continues planning and preparations for drilling CH-1 well.

SALE

Scirocco is also in the process of selling its 25% interest in the project to Wentworth Resources.

However, the country’s national energy company Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC) and APT hold pre-emption rights.

Scirocco is in discussions with TPDC on its position regarding TPDC’s statutory right of first refusal of the sale of its 25% interest.

The company added it was also maintaining dialogue with APT on its intention to exercise its pre-emption right.
