Red Rock Resources plc has acquired two prospective exploration projects covering 348 km2 in the prolific Boromo and Banfora Greenstone Belts, southwest Burkina Faso.
BILBALE AND BOULON
The company said that Bilbale (183.62 km²) and Boulon (164.28 km²) had artisanal activity which showed evidence of the presence of high grade gold.
The assets are held by Faso Greenstone Resources SARLU (FGR), a wholly owned subsidiary of Faso Minerals Ltd, which is wholly owned by Red Rock.
Red Rock has paid £54,000 to the vendors.
PROGRAMME
The provisional 2022 exploration programme will begin with Phase I involving the generation of a target scale geology map of the project.
It will also include identification of gold bearing structures through mapping and rock sampling.
Phase II will comprise auger drilling to define a gold bearing corridor.
FOOTPRINT
Red Rock chairman Andrew Bell said that the company had chosen to focus on areas offering most long-term security, in the southwest of Burkino Faso and away from the Mali and Niger borders.
“Both licences we believe to be of high quality, and Bilbale already looks an exceptional opportunity on every metric used in our screening, with a good prospect for discoveries.
“Boulon also has good targets and a lot of artisanal activity.
“Geochemistry at Boulon was too wide-spaced to pick up more than isolated anomalous readings which have not been followed up.
“With the experienced team we are deploying our aim is to build a serious Burkina Faso explorer with an expanding footprint, capable of autonomous growth.”
