Power Metal Resources plc has begun reverse circulation (RC) drilling following last month’s mapping exercise at its 100% owned Tati gold project within the Tati Greenstone Belt (TGB) near Francistown, northeast Botswana.
TATI
The company holds prospecting licences PL126/2019, PL127/2019 for gold and nickel mineralisation as well as the 16.14km2 PL049/2022 covering the historic Cherished Hope gold mine.
DRILL PROGRAMME
Power Metal said that the RC drilling will last one week and target near-surface high-grade gold mineralisation.
The 500 metres RC drilling in nine holes will test for the along strike and down-dip extension of the Cherished Hope mine mineralised quartz reef structures.
The drill programme follows Power Metal’s mapping exercise in July 2022 at the Cherished Hope, which showed “significantly” more extensive historical gold workings than previously understood.
The company also found two fines dumps with waste material near the historical workings and is awaiting laboratory assay results from sampling for gold content.
Chief executive Paul Johnson said he expected the dumps would contain residual gold that could potentially be processed at an existing plant nearby, subject to approvals.
POTENTIAL
Mr Johnson added that while the company made progress at Tati, it remained focused on preparations for drilling at its Molopo Farms Complex targeting a large-scale nickel-copper-platinum group metal discovery.
“The Tati project, also in Botswana, has demonstrated potential for high grade and near surface gold mineralisation, and we are therefore moving ahead with an expedited next stage drill programme.”
