Power Metal starts RAB drilling at Haneti

Power Metal Resources plc announced it had started its first drill at the nickel-copper-PGM Haneti project in central Tanzania.

Prospective: Power Metal believes Haneti has the potential to deliver a large-scale metal discovery (Power Metal Resources)

HANETI

The project covers some 5,000km2 in central Tanzania and comprises tenements (prospecting licences, offers and applications) prospective for nickel, PGMs and gold.

Power Metal holds 35% interest and Katoro Gold plc holds 65%.

TARGETS

The programme comprises 2,000 metres of rotary air blast (RAB) drilling with a planned 50 holes each to a depth of 40 metres.

The RAB drill holes will be across three initial target areas to provide enhanced information of the subsurface shape and orientation of the ultramafic rock bodies being targeted.

This will also allow optimisation for a planned follow-on diamond drill programme.

WATERSHED

Chief executive Paul Johnson said that the start of drilling at Haneti represented a watershed moment in the project.

“The project is prospective for both nickel sulphide and PGM mineralisation and the targets form part of an 80km long ultramafic rock complex that we believe has the potential to deliver a large-scale metal discovery.”
