Power Metal nears drilling 2,600m at Molopo

Power Metal Resources plc soon expects to start drilling a 2,600m strike-length target at its nickel-copper-platinum group element (PGE) Molopo Farms Complex project in Botswana.

SURVEY AND MODELLING

Ahead of the decision to drill, the company completed a high-resolution ground magnetic (ground-mag) geophysics survey over high priority Target 1-6 (T1-6) covering 2,700m by 1,600m.

From the results, the technical team identified a strong east-west trending magnetic anomaly near the southern edge of the survey area.

Power Metal also completed three dimensional inversion modelling of data and all other available geophysical datasets covering the T1-6 electromagnetic (EM) conductor.

INTERPRETATION

The company’s interpretation of historical airborne electromagnetic (EM) survey data with recent moving-loop EM (MLEM) geophysics results estimates that the T1-6 conductor has an approximate strike length of 2,600m and an estimated down dip extent of 1,000m.

DRILLING

Power Metal has now established the diamond core drillhole parameters for the first two planned holes at T1-6 and is preparing two drill collar sites.

Drillhole DDH1-6B will be 600m in depth and 530m directly south of drillhole KKME 1-6 completed in December 2020.

Power Metal aims for hole to intersect the southerly dipping conductor at a relatively shallow depth of 300m.

Drillhole DDH1-6C lies 830m, also directly south of drillhole KKME 1-6, to a planned depth of 650m.

The hole will test the intersection zone between the southerly dipping conductor and the newly identified strongly magnetic East-West trending body, estimated to be at a depth of 350m.

The drill rig is on site and the company expects to start drilling the first priority target hole shortly.

SURVEYS

Power Metal said it continued the moving-loop electromagnetic (MLEM) surveys at additional target areas of T1-2 and T2-3.

The MLEM and ground-mag surveys also continue at target area T1-14.

CONSIDERABLE

Chief executive Paul Johnson added it was less than a month since the initial geophysical survey findings at T1-6 had prompted the acceleration to drilling.

“Our work at Molopo Farms is gathering pace with the parameters for the first two diamond core drillholes into Target 1-6 now confirmed.

“Significantly, based on recently completed 3D geophysical modelling the strike-length of the priority conductor at T1-6 is interpreted to be 2,600m, a considerable target.

“We are working closely with the team in Botswana who have done an incredible job thus far.”

PROJECT OWNERSHIP

Power Metal currently has 53% effective economic interest in Molopo through a direct project interest and a shareholding in partner Kalahari Key Mineral Exploration (Pty) Ltd.

In May 2022 Power Metal announced a conditional transaction to increase its interest in Molopo Farms to 87.71% and for the company become the operator.
