Oriole confirms lithium-bearing pegmatites at CLP

Oriole Resources plc confirmed “multiple” lithium-bearing pegmatites from early stage exploration at two licences on its 90%-owned Central Licence Package (CLP) in Cameroon.

The CLP comprises nine contiguous licences over 4,091km2.

Oriole said the previously unexplored Paleo-Proterozoic to Pan-African age rocks were “highly prospective” for a range of commodities, including orogenic-style gold mineralisation and lithium.

Since the last quarter of 2022, exploration at the Ndom and Gamboukou licences has aimed to assess their potential to host lithium-bearing pegmatites.

“A number of pegmatite units have now been identified that help underpin the source of the 9km lithium-in-soil anomalies reported in Q4 2022,” said the company.

“Mapping and sampling programmes are continuing at Gamboukou.”

At Ndom, a total of 64 rock-chip samples (including QAQC) have been taken, 55 of which target pegmatite veins of up to 1.5m wide.

Samples have also been taken to assess the mineralogy of the pegmatites to determine which minerals are lithium-bearing.
