Oriole Resources plc has started an inaugural diamond drilling campaign to confirm the orientation of mineralised zones at its Mbe orogenic gold project in the Adamawa region of Cameroon.

Mbe is one of five licences within Oriole’s wider package of contiguous exploration licences, named the Eastern CLP, which covers 2,266 km2, prospective for gold deposits.
Work to date has focused on the MB01 prospect comprising the MB01-N and MB01-S targets.
Oriole said that drilling would consist of 24 holes for 6,590 metres at MB01-S, which is the largest and “most prospective” target where previous trenching results showed “wide zones of gold mineralisation”.
The first four holes will be paired scissor holes, over the core of the steeply dipping 500m long mineralised corridor. Drilling aims to “review and confirm the structural orientation of the mineralised zones and the optimal drilling azimuth”.
The company will also consider drilling the MB01-N target later during the field season.
“This is a highly exciting and important milestone for our Mbe gold project,” added chief executive Martin Rosser.
“The project team, with our partner BCM, has worked hard to mobilise the new BCM drill rig, and prepare for the Oriole designed and managed intensive maiden drilling campaign.
“We are greatly looking forward to reporting the results from the first holes drilled on the MB01-S target in due course.”
The company’s earn-in partner BCM International Ltd is funding up to US$4 million in exploration expenditure.
