Neptune Energy has appointed Pete Jones as the new chief executive officer from 1 January 2022.
He will assume the position from Jim House who will retire on 30 December 2020.
Mr Jones has been Neptune’s VP operations, Europe, since October 2019 and a member of the executive team since August 2018 when he joined the company as managing director for the UK.
He has transformed the Netherlands and Germany businesses, and delivered organic and inorganic growth in Norway and the UK, along with driving an improvement in safety and production efficiency.
Mr Jones gained a degree in Engineering Operational Research from the University of Birmingham.
He joined Marathon Oil and spent 16 years working in various operational, technical, and functional roles across the UK and the US, before being appointed managing director of its UK business in 2009.
In 2013, Mr Jones was appointed managing director of TAQA UK, before being promoted to managing director of TAQA Europe two years later.
He was Honorary Professor at the University of Aberdeen’s Business School between 2017 and 2020.
Previously in his career, he was chairman of the Rejuvenation workgroup, PILOT, a joint industry government initiative focusing on area collaboration and development plans across operators.
During 2015 and 2016, Mr Jones was on the board of Oil & Gas UK and a member of the Energy Jobs Taskforce.
