Neptune finds hydrocarbons in Calypso

Neptune Energy reported that logs had proved the presence of hydrocarbons in the Calypso exploration well within licence PL938 in the Norwegian Sea.

Exploration: the well is being drilled by the Deepsea Yantai, a semi-submersible rig owned by CIMC and operated by Odfjell Drilling (Neptune Energy)

EARLY STAGES

Project partners comprise Neptune as operator (30%), OKEA ASA (30%), Pandion Energy AS (20%) and Vår Energi ASA (20%).

The companies will now consider gathering additional data of the reservoir.

“The operations in the reservoir section remain at an early stage and it has yet to be confirmed if commercial volumes are present” added Neptune which began drilling the well at the start of November.

CALYPSO

The Calypso prospect is located within one of Neptune’s core areas on the Norwegian Continental Shelf, 14 km northwest of the Draugen field and 22 km northeast of the Njord A platform.

The well is being drilled by the Deepsea Yantai, a semi-submersible rig owned by CIMC and operated by Odfjell Drilling.
