Neptune finds hydrocarbons at Hamlet

Neptune Energy and its partners today announced it had encountered hydrocarbons at the Hamlet exploration well in the Norwegian North Sea.

EARLY STAGE

The joint venture decided to start coring at the reservoir, located within the Gjøa licence (PL153), although it has yet to confirm if commercial volumes are present.

In a statement Neptune added that operations in the reservoir section were still at an early stage.

“A contingent side-track may be drilled to further define the extent of the discovery.

“The drilling programme comprises a main-bore (35/9-16S) with an optional side-track (35/9-16A) based on the outcome of the exploration well.”

HAMLET

Hamlet lies 58km west of Florø, at a water depth of 358 metres, Hamlet is within one of Neptune’s core areas and close to existing infrastructure.

The joint venture comprises Neptune Energy (30%), Petoro (30%), Wintershall Dea (28%), OKEA (12%).
