Neptune awarded gold status for net zero methane plans

Neptune Energy said that its targets and plans to reach net zero methane intensity by 2030 have been awarded gold standard status from the Oil & Gas Methane Partnership (OGMP).

2030 TARGET

The company was required to outline a path to reduce methane emissions by 45% or more and to report progress annually.

VP operations Europe, Pete Jones, said that emissions reduction was an area in which Neptune was demonstrating leadership through its actions.

“We already have one of the lowest methane intensities in the sector, at 0.01%, compared with the industry average of 0.23%, and want to go further with a target of net zero methane emissions by 2030.

The news follows the completion of Neptune’s collaboration with Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) measuring methane emissions on the Cygnus platform in the UK North Sea.
