Kavango progresses Zimbabwe projects ahead of drilling

Kavango Resources plc has progressed exploration activities towards new or expanded drilling programmes at its gold projects in southern Zimbabwe.

PREPARATIONS

Acquired in July 2023, the Hillside project in Matabeleland comprises 40 contiguous gold claims and contains a historic high-grade underground mine.

Kavango plans 16-line km induced polarisation surveys over four of the prospects, aimed to identify sulphide bodies associated with high-grade gold-bearing shear structures related to historic and artisanal workings.

Results will inform an additional planned 1,400m diamond drilling to test targets identified by the survey and extend intersections observed in recent drilling.

Drilling to date on the four prospects has comprised four completed diamond core holes for a total 1,306m.

Kavango said that visual observations from the cores were encouraging with samples due to be sent for assay testing.

In January, the company deferred exercise of its option until it had reviewed the impact of new tax laws in the country.

The company has meanwhile begun preparations for access and infrastructure at its first Zimbabwe gold option of the Nara project, also expected to undergo drilling.

The project comprises 45 contiguous gold claims, each of 10 hectares, and covers four historic mines also in Matabeleland.

Kavango is awaiting results of its current geological mapping, its proposed ground geophysics and assays from its soil geochemistry programmes.

Analyses have been received from the 90 augur holes drilled on the large tailings dump at Nara, which are with a resource consultant for modelling.

Kavango has also reviewed data from previous drone surveys over the two Leopard project prospects, re-processed magnetic data over one area, and is currently processing data from a remaining block.

Preparations for geochemical soil sampling at Leopard have started and will be followed by a ground geophysical programme.
