Kavango Resources plc plans to drill up to six holes for 1,250m in the first of four copper-silver prospecting licences in the Kalahari copper belt (KCB), Botswana.
PHASE I
The first phase of inaugural drilling on PL082/2018 will see sub-contractor Mindea Exploration and Drilling Services Pty use a multi-purpose rig, capable of diamond core and reverse circulation drilling.
Mindea will begin operations by 9 October with completion due by early November.
ANOMALIES
Kavango said that Phase I drilling would focus on two discrete copper geochemical anomalies.
The first lies in the Northern Zone with a 9km strike length and maximum width of 650m, and the second in the Central Zone has a 27km strike length extending over the length of PL082/2018.
A peak soil sample returned a value of 118.8ppm copper (pXRF values).
NEW TARGET
The company has also identified a new target of the Middle Zone, between the Northern Zone and Central Zone, with a 1.25km strike and peak value of 35ppm copper.
The start of Phase I on the KCB licence follows 2022 drill programmes in Kavango’s other projects in the Kalahari Suture Zone and Ditau.
