Kavango identifies two major drill targets at KCB licence, Botswana

Kavango Resources plc has confirmed two major drill targets at its Kalahari Copper Belt (KCB) licence PL082/2018 in Botswana.

Banana Zone 2 – the relative positions of Kavango’s PL082 licence and the established Cupric Canyon-owned Banana Zone resource (Kavango)

JOINT VENTURE

The company is earning in a 90% interest in prospecting licences PL082/2018 and PL083/2018 covering 1,091km2.

The licences are held in a joint venture with  LVR GeoExplorers (Pty) Ltd.

TARGETS

The company identified the two linear geochemical features anomalous for copper after collecting 3,178 samples in a large-scale, high-resolution soil sampling programme.

The target in the Northern Zone has an 8km strike length, while the target in the Central Zone has a 27km strike length.

Kavango reported a peak value of 118.8ppm copper (pXRF values) with a strong indication of in-situ mineralisation.

The company added that PL082/2018 was a potential analogue to Khoemacau’s Banana Zone deposit, immediately to the south of Ghanzi Ridge.

DRILLING

The company will first review and integrate existing Kavango AEM* data and complete limited infill soil sampling (reducing 800m to 200m line spacing) in selected areas to enable final definition of drill targets.

Kavango will also conduct static seismic surveys (Tromino) to evaluate overburden thickness.

The company will also undertake a CSAMT** survey to provide resolution of targeted anticline structure and ensure it selects optimal drill direction.

A reverse circulation drill programme will follow.

Chief executive Ben Turney added that the company was currently meeting drill contractors in Botswana ahead of the company’s inaugural drill campaign.
