Kavango identifies prospective copper drill target at Mamuno, KCB

Kavango Resources plc said it had identified a large drill target prospective for copper on its Mamuno project area in the Kalahari Copper Belt (KCB), Botswana.

Mineralisation: Kavango considers that the anomaly aligns with an underlying Ngwako Pan/D’kar Formation contact (Kavango Resources)

MAMUNO

The Mamuno project area comprises four of the company’s licences – PL046/2020, PL049/2020, PL052/2020, PL053/2020 – held in a 50-50 joint venture with Power Metal Resources plc.

Kavango is in the process of regaining 100% control of ten licences in the Botswana JV, currently under the name of Kanye Resources.

Two of the Mamuno licences PL049/2020 and PL052/2020 extend to the Botswana – Namibia border.

SAMPLING

Kavango completed a large-scale, high-resolution soil sampling programme of 1,319 samples at Mamuno.

The identified drill target is 5km by 3.5km and of anomalous values (+30ppm Cu) with a peak value (pXRF values) of 73ppm copper.

The company plans follow-up geophysical work to sharpen the definition of the target before drilling.

COPPER-SILVER

Chief executive Ben Turney described the anomaly at Mamuno as robust.

“The western KCB area has historically been unexplored due to depth of sand cover, but is now seeing an intensification of exploration activity.

“Kavango has managed to carry out geological mapping in the area despite the cover, and considers that the anomaly aligns with an underlying Ngwako Pan/D’kar Formation contact, which is a key control on copper/silver mineralisation in the KCB”.
