Karelian Diamond Resources plc has extended its diamond exploration licences over the areas targeted by the upcoming campaign in the Kuhmo region of Eastern Finland.

PROVINCE
The company was granted a new reservation of Kuumu 1 at the Lentiira in northern Kuhmo, 30 km to the north of the green diamond discovery, with one year to apply for an exploration permit.
Karelian has also applied for an “uninterrupted extension” of exploration permit, Kuhmo 1.
The 2025 exploration programme will focus on the green diamond target area where it previously identified a high priority drilling target.
Exploration permit, Seitaperä, covering the Seitaperä diamondiferous kimberlite in Kuhmo was also extended for a further three tears in March 2024.
Seitaperä is circa six kilometres to the southwest of the exploration permit Kuhmo 1.
Exploration permits Riihivaara 26, Riihivaara 24, 24A and 24B in Kuhmo were extended for a further three years from January 2024.
Karelian said that all the licences combined with the new reservation, could become a “significant” diamond province on the Finnish side of the Karelian Craton.
The company was additionally recently granted new exploration permits at Liperi in the Joensuu region of Eastern Finland, and Salla in Lapland of Finland.
Meanwhile at the Lahtojoki diamond deposit, Karelian said it expected to finalise the landowner compensation during Q2 2025.
Karelian already has approval for a mining concession and is seeking strategic partners to advance the development.
The company also continues to seek a strategic partner for a two-year exploration programme on its Northern Ireland nickel, copper and platinum group metals projects.
