Karelian completes pitting programme in Kuhmo

Karelian Diamond Resources plc has completed a pitting programme on more than 20 previously identified kimberlite targets in the Kuhmo region of Finland.

Analysis: before the company drill tests any highly anomalous results (stock photo)

GLACIAL TILL

The targets extend over 23 locations from where glacial till samples for kimberlite indicator mineral testing were collected.

The company said that the bedrock reached in eight of the locations was composed mainly of granite.

Each sample comprises three c.40kg bags of glacial till. Karelian retained one 40kg bag as a reference and passed the two other bags through a 2mm sieve to produce just over 30kg of sieved glacial till material for analysis.

The sieved samples have been sent to Canada for kimberlite indicator mineral analysis before the company drill tests any “highly anomalous” results as well as others of the total of 38 targets.
