Kanye identifies extensive anomalies at South Ghanzi

Kanye Resources said it had identified extensive anomalies including seven AEM conductive targets at the South Ghanzi copper-silver project in the Kalahari Copper Belt, Botswana.

Tests: the strategic joint venture hopes to start drilling later in 2021 at South Ghanzi, Botswana (Kavango Resources)

SJV

Kanye is a 50-50 strategic joint venture between Power Metal Resources plc and site operator Kavango Resources plc who have each set up holding companies; Kanye Resources Pty Ltd in Botswana which is a subsidiary of Kanye Resources Ltd in the UK.

SOIL GEOCHEMISTRY

Results from a 1,200 line-km airborne electromagnetic (AEM) geophysics survey have delineated seven conductive anomalies constituting high priority targets for further work.

A ground-based investigation showed that, where existing soil sampling results coincide with the most significant AEM anomaly (Target A1 named Acacia), there was a close positive correlation between elevated copper and zinc results in soil geochemistry, a conductive anomaly and regional geological mapping.

The soil geochemical survey lines will now be extended to provide further coverage and resolution over A1, and additional soil surveys placed over the remaining conductive anomalies.

Kavango has also acquired a new portable XRF analyser to quicken the soil geochemistry surveys.

The additional soil data in conjunction with geological logging of existing water borehole rock chips, the AEM results, and further geological modelling will help refine the placement of drill holes.

A drilling programme is expected to begin later in 2021.

PRIORITY TARGETS

The highest priority targets for further exploration are Target 36A (Acacia); Target 36G (Morula); Target B (Baobab); and Target E (Elephant).

Kavango chief executive Michael Foster said that the copper and zinc readings taken from Kalahari cover were promising but only drilling and assay testing would show the project’s economic viability.

SJV LICENCES

The SJV has a 100% interest in the two South Ghanzi prospecting licences prospective for copper/silver mineralisation.

These include two Ditau project prospecting licences for minerals associated with carbonatite intrusions including rare earth elements south of the town of Kang in central Botswana.

All four licences are currently being transferred from Kavango Minerals (Pty) Ltd into the name of Kanye Resources Botswana (Pty) Ltd.
