Kanye identifies REE drill targets at Ditau

Kanye Resources plc has identified several drill targets following completion of geophysical and geochemical surveys at the rare earth elements (REEs) project at Ditau, Botswana.

Encouraged: Kavango’s targets are relatively shallow, which should make it straightforward to determine the project’s potential (CI-ARS-USDA-Greb)

The 50-50 joint venture company between the operator Kavango Resources plc and Power Metal Resources plc, completed the surveys on 12 target areas.

HIGH PRIORITY

Kavango said that seven drill targets had been identified, each including a possible carbonatite intrusive body lying within range of reverse circulation (RC) drilling.

All the targets are within 300m depth with three of the seven classified as ‘high priority’.

TARGET I1: is a large, intense magnetic dipole, spanning 17km by 8km. It lies at a shallow depth to source of less than 100m, just under the Kalahari sands at an intersection of two major regional fault zones.

Anomalous niobium values have been identified; niobium is used in superconducting materials and industrial alloys.

TARGET I4: spans 7.5km by 5km and is at a shallow depth to source of less than 100m.

Target I10: covers 2.5km by 2.8km and has high AMT resistivity which is coincidental with a gravity high.

SIGNIFICANT

Kavango added it was processing data and interpretation in readiness for drilling. The company already has an environmental management plan in place.

Chief executive Ben Turney said that the company was much encouraged by the number of drillable intrusive targets at Ditau.

“Most of these appear to be post Karoo in age and lying at a shallow depth beneath Kalahari sand cover.

“It is particularly encouraging to have identified seven drill-ready targets, with three of those being classified as high priority.

“Carbonatite hosted deposits of rare earth elements hold significant strategic and commercial value.

“Kavango’s targets are relatively shallow, which should make it straightforward to determine this project’s potential.”

He added that Kavango would revisit Ditau later this year after completion of other high-impact drill campaigns.
