Wressle JV partners mark first oil flow

First oil flow was today announced by the joint venture partners at Wressle in North Lincolnshire.

First oil: the joint venture at Wressle oil field plan to produce additional reserves in the near future (Union Jack Oil)

The oil field lies in licences PEDL180 and PEDL182 and is operated by Egdon Resources plc (30% interest) with other partners being Union Jack Oil plc (40%) and Europa Oil & Gas plc (30%).

The news follows the recompletion of Wressle-1 well and reperforation of the Ashover Grit reservoir interval on schedule.

Free-flow of oil has started and Egdon has placed the well on continuous 24-hour test production. The JV added that the well was currently in the normal clean-up phase while the well is carefully brought on-stream.

Oil produced from Wressle will be transported by road tanker to the Phillips 66 Humber refinery and sold under the operator’s existing oil sales contract.

The Wressle-1 well was drilled in 2014 and tested in 2015 during which a total of 710 barrels of oil equivalent per day were recovered from three separate reservoirs: the Ashover Grit; the Wingfield Flags; and the Penistone Flags.

In September 2016, a competent person’s report provided independent estimates of reserves and contingent and prospective oil and gas resources for Wressle of 2.15 million stock tank barrels classified as discovered (2P+2C).

Further development of Wressle, including producing additional reserves existing in the Penistone Flags formation, is expected in the future.
