IGas plc said it had submitted two planning applications to Surrey County Council to produce hydrogen from methane at its Albury and Bletchingley projects.

Surrey County Council’s website to date shows only the proposals for the company’s plans for Albury.
IGas aims to produce 1,000 kg hydrogen per day from the site which lies in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
These involve installation of a steam methane reformation (SMR) unit for the production of hydrogen from methane extracted from the wellsite in Albury Park, east of New Road.
Also included are a compressor unit, surge tank, nitrogen supply tank and electrical module and a tanker loading area on some 0.5 hectares.
The company also hopes to use the access track to export the hydrogen for a temporary period with restoration to commercial forestry.
HISTORY
The Albury site is part of the oil and gas well sites which IGas acquired in 2011 as part of its acquisition of Star Energy Weald Basin Ltd.
The total number of sites lie in Hampshire, West Sussex and Surrey.
