i3 Energy plc has awarded Petrofac the contract to drill the Serenity appraisal well in the Outer Moray Firth.

Petrofac Facilities Management Ltd will have three years to work on licence P2358 block 13/23c.

PFML has an existing contract with Stena Drilling Ltd for the use of the Stena Don, a harsh environment, fifth generation, semi-submersible drilling unit.

Operator i3 said it had secured a well slot with a start date between 15 August and 15 September 2022.

Chief executive Majid Shafiq added that operations planning was well underway with spudding on course for early September.

In March 2022 Europa Oil & Gas (Holdings) plc (25%) farmed into Serenity.
