Hurricane Energy plc announced that John Wright has agreed to step down from the role of interim chairman.
The move is in connection with a request from activist investor Crystal Amber Fund Ltd to appoint Juan Morera to the board as non-executive director (NED).
Hurricane said it anticipated that Mr Morera would join the board on completion of due diligence.
Mr Wright will remain on the board as a NED.
Philip Wolfe, currently the senior independent NED, will assume the role of independent non-executive chairman, with both changes taking place with immediate effect.
Hurricane added it would continue to review the structure and composition of the board.
The company expects to appoint additional independent NEDs in due course.
