Hummingbird to extend drilling at Yanfolila gold mine

Hummingbird Resources plc said it has extended its drilling campaign after it intersected new zones mineralisation and found improved grade continuing at depth at its Yanfolila gold mine in Mali.

Extension: Hummingbird has found a new zone of mineralisation at Sanioumale East deposit in Mali (Hummingbird Resources)

The company has been conducting its final drilling programme at the Sanioumale East (SE) deposit. Results show that at 8m at 2.68 g/t from 112 m depth (SNERC0370) a new zone of mineralisation was intersected outside the mineral resource model with the hole ending in mineralisation.

The data will be added to the Yanfolila mineral resource models, which the company expects to release by the end of the first quarter of 2021. bit.ly/2KNojCy Hummingbird said that drilling results for SE and those recently released from Sanioumale West (SW) and Komana East Underground (KEUG) demonstrated the options for extending the potential mine life at existing deposits.

The company is also finalising its 2021 exploration and drilling strategy at its new gold project in Kouroussa, Guinea.

“The purpose of our 2020 exploration and drilling programmes was primarily to upgrade our confidence levels in known mineral resources,” said chief executive Dan Betts.

“It is clear from these results and those previously released that we have been able to achieve this and I am confident that we will be adding to the known mineral resources at Yanfolila.”

“We are now modelling this years’ drilling results in order to update our mineral resource models which we aim to release in Q1 next year.”

At the start of December, Hummingbird announced it would miss its gold output targets due to operating restrictions imposed by the pandemic, a military coup and bad weather.

The company currently has two core gold projects, the Yanfolila Gold Mine in Mali and the recently acquired Kouroussa gold project in Guinea.  Hummingbird also has a controlling interest in the Dugbe gold project in Liberia being developed by Pasofino Gold Ltd through an earn-in agreement.
