Harbour notes oil discovery offshore Mexico

Harbour Energy plc said that the Kan-1 exploration well had discovered oil in the joint venture (JV) Block 30 in the Sureste Basin, offshore Mexico.

Evaluation: of well data before preparing a proposed plan to appraise the discovery (Block Energy)

KAN-1

The Kan-1 exploration well lies 25km off the Tabasco coast in 50 metres of water.

Harbour said that the well was drilled to a total measured depth of 3,317m and encountered more than 170m of net pay.

The well was subsequently side tracked up-dip and 250m of core was recovered.

The Block 30 partners will now evaluate the well data collected and prepare proposed plan to appraise the discovery.

BLOCK 30

Project partners comprise operator Wintershall Dea (40%), Harbour and Sapura OMV (each 30%).

In October 2022, a two commitment well exploration campaign began in Block 30, which lies southwest of the Zama field.

The first well targeting the Kan prospect, in the southwest of the block, is currently in progress.

The second commitment well, targeting the Ix prospect 20km northeast of the Kan discovery, is due to spud during April 2023.
