Serica Energy plc said nominee Guillaume Vermersch will join the board as non-executive director on completion of the company’s acquisition of Tailwind Energy Investments Ltd.
Tailwind’s largest shareholder Mercuria Energy Group made the nomination, along with that of Robert Lawson, under the terms of the sales and purchase agreement.
Mr Vermersch is Mercuria’s group chief financial officer, a group board member and helped found the company in 2004.
He previously spent five years as head of the credit and finance risk department of Sempra Oil Trading in Europe and Asia.
Mr Vermersch was responsible for defining, implementing and monitoring the full scope of the Sempra Energy credit and financial strategies, from trading business requirements to banking, finance and risk management responsibilities to support the oil and energy division’s expansion.
Prior to that, he spent 11 years in the energy, metals and mining commodities and structured finance departments of ING Bank and Credit Agricole in Geneva and Paris.
Mr Vermersch started his career with Arthur Andersen in Paris.
He holds an MBA from the Manchester Business School and also graduated from École Supérieure de Commerce de Paris Europe (ESCP Europe Business School).
