Galantas Gold Corporation has been granted additional licences to increase its base and precious metals prospecting area in Ireland.
FLINTRIDGE RESOURCES
The Canadian company’s local operating subsidiary Flintridge Resources Ltd has expanded its two areas in Co. Leitrim, increasing the total exploration land package by 47.8km2 to 159.4km2.
In October 2021, the Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications Eamon Ryan said he intended to grant a prospecting licence for 47 named townlands in two separate areas.
The prospecting licences have also been reported as being for PL1469 and 3162, lying close to Manorhamilton near Enniskillen in Northern Ireland.
Galantas’ plans and the Irish Government’s decision have drawn objections from local residents.
BASE AND PRECIOUS METALS
In a statement today, Galantas said that Flintridge had been granted prospecting licences for base metals, gold (ores of) and silver (ores of) for six years, beginning 28 April 2022.
“Geochemical results derived from the Tellus Border project, combined with the occurrence of Dalradian-age lithologies and the north-east structural trend, indicate that the prospecting licence areas are prospective for base and precious metals,” added the company.
“Historical records reference copper workings, in addition to more recent zinc and lead mining activity; both of which are situated within the new licence block.”
Galantas also holds an exploration land package totalling 437.3km2 at its Cavanacaw gold mine project in Omagh, Northern Ireland.
