Galantas Gold Corporation said it had increased gold concentrate processing after adding an extra work shift at its Cavanacaw Gold Mine in Omagh, County Tyrone.
The Canadian company began three-shift processing on 26 October 2020 with the additional shift resulting in a rise in milling from 84 hours to 120 hours per week.
Galantas added that it had also increased training and reorganised its workforce, which allowed the extra shift without hiring new staff.
The company said it expected an increase in gold concentrate output of up to 43% due to the increase in weekly milling hours.
At the start of November, Galantas announced it was conducting a new technical review, including a proposed core drilling programme, at the mine. bit.ly/2KkQPuY
The company has said its licensed area holds more than three million ounces of gold which is wants to “aggressively explore”.
The first gold concentrate, of 25 tonnes, from Omagh’s main Kearney gold vein was shipped to Glencore’s New Brunswick smelter in 2018.
