First Class Metals plc (FCM) has started field operations on its metals exploration projects, with the aim of drilling at least one, in Ontario, Canada.
MCKELLAR
The company began at McKellar with sawn channel sampling of the rare earth element (REE) diatreme.
Current sampling will be used to verify and possibly expand the potential outlined by historic assays.
SUNBEAM
A second exploration team has widened the historic review of Sunbeam to include detailed core review from historical drill holes. Access to the property has also been assessed.
NORTH HEMLO & ESA
The final team will next week begin exploration on the North Hemlo and Esa properties, focusing on anomalous soil sample results and a 0.7ppm boulder identified in the central eastern sector.
FCM aims to prepare the prospect for drilling by following up previous sampling conducted on the Dead Otter Lake trend.
The company is also still awaiting results from 96 lake sediment samples taken during the winter.
PERMIT
Discussions continue with drill companies for an inaugural drilling programme at Esa and or North Hemlo.
First Nation groups are currently reviewing FCM’s application for an exploration permit because traditional lands cover Esa and North Hemlo.
Three of the properties account for more than 60% of FCM’s licensed area which covers 230km2.
ZIGZAG & SUGAR CUBE
FCM has also made reconnaissance trips to the Zigzag and Sugar Cube properties to assess access.
At Zigzag, the company aims to conduct sawn channel sampling to better quantify the strike length, width and tenor of the lithium and tantalum potential.
Sampling along the exposed outcrop of the pegmatite with sawn channels, similar to that at McKellar, was equivalent to a horizontal drill hole.
FCM expects to undertake a focused drill programme later in the season.
Field work at Sugar Cube will involve investigating the potentially mineralised structures highlighted by a high resolution magnetic / electromagnetic (EM) survey.
One team will prospect the peripheral claims while the second will focus on the mineralised trends containing the Sunbeam, Roy and Pettigrew mine shafts to determine possible drill targets for later in the season.
