FCM assays support ‘Dead Otter gold trend’

First Class Metals plc said that photon assays of previous samples had revealed a new area of gold anomalism at the Dead Otter trend within its North Hemlo property in Ontario, Canada.

The company sent 25 samples of the total collected for re-assaying after earlier results had not reflected the potential gold values.

Chief executive Marc J. Sale added that the submitted samples, covering only part of the trend, had shown significant results.

“They not only validate the findings from our fire assay results but also, and perhaps most importantly, reveal a new area of gold anomalism within the trend.

“This discovery reinforces the theory of the ‘Dead Otter gold trend’ adding potential for further exploration.”

FCM now also believes that the mineralisation has a ‘spotty gold distribution’ rather than “a coarse gold issue” as it previously thought.

On 5 September, the company also reported completion of planned stripping and channel sampling at three locations along the 3.7 km strike identified.

FCM will release the results once all are received before planning future work.
