Europa appoints Alastair Stuart as COO

Europa Oil & Gas (Holdings) plc has appointed Alastair Stuart as chief operating officer and an executive director, with immediate effect.

Mr Stuart has more than 30 years’ experience in operational, commercial and technical roles in the energy and IT sectors.

As a 1982 graduate of Herriot-Watt’s Masters programme in Petroleum Engineering, he began his career with Total CFP in Paris before joining Enterprise Oil in 1986 where he focused on projects in the North Sea and the Far East.

On promotion to new ventures manager, Mr Stuart led the evaluation and progression of new ventures in South America, Eastern Europe and the Far East.

After ten years with Enterprise, he worked briefly with Hardy Oil & Gas, before establishing his own consulting group in 1998 for managing capital allocation for investments in the oil & gas, pharmaceutical and venture capital sectors.

Mr Stuart has been a consultant at Europa since 2012 and, more recently, closely involved in the development of the onshore Wressle field.

He will relinquish his other commitments and focus on Europa’s existing assets and support the CEO on building the company.  

Mr Stuart is directly interested in 210,000 ordinary shares of Europa, and indirectly interested, through Datura Limited where he is a director, in 72,488 ordinary shares of Europa.

His other current directorship / partnership is with Hyperion Energy Services Ltd.
