EnQuest appoints Gareth Penny as non-executive chairman

EnQuest plc has appointed Gareth Penny as non-executive chairman, effective from today.

He replaces Martin Houston whose departure was announced in June.

“The board would like to thank Martin Houston for his important contribution to the company during his chairmanship,” said EnQuest in a statement.

On joining the board, Mr Penny will also become chairman of the governance and nomination committee.

He has board level experience from chairing public and private boards and is currently chairman of Ninety One plc and Ltd.

Mr Penny was previously chairman of Norilsk Nickel, Russia’s largest diversified mining and metals company.

He has also served on the board of Julius Baer Group for 12 years.

Mr Penny has extensive experience in extractive industries, having served 22 years with De Beers and Anglo American, the last five of which he was De Beers group chief executive officer.
