Egdon appeals against refusal for more time at North Kelsey

Egdon Resources plc said it had submitted an appeal against local authority refusal for more time to drill and test the exploration well at North Kelsey in Lincolnshire.

Expectation: the appeal will be decided under the written representation procedure (Egdon Resources)

NORTH KELSEY

North Kelsey, in PEDL241 covering 55km2, is a conventional oil exploration prospect on trend with and analogous to the Wressle development which lies some 15km to the northwest.

Operator Egdon estimates gross prospective resources of 4.66 to 8.47 million barrels of oil, with a mean resource of 6.47 mmbo.

The company holds a 50% interest with Union Jack Oil plc owning 50% economic interest.

PLANNING

In March 2022, the county council refused to approve an extension of time to the existing planning permission for drilling and testing the well.

“The appeal documentation has been submitted to the planning inspectorate (PINS) and the appeal will now be validated by PINS before an inspector is appointed and a timetable defined,” said Egdon in a statement today.

“The expectation is that the appeal will be decided under the written representation procedure, a process where PINS will consider written evidence from the appellant, the local planning authority and other interested parties.”
