Cornish Metals Inc founder Grenville Thomas has stepped down from his post as board director but remains associated with the company as chairman emeritus.
Mr Thomas established the company, previously named Strongbow, more than 20 years ago.
Born in Swansea, he graduated in 1964 from Cardiff University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mining Engineering before moving to Canada.
Mr Thomas founded the Aber Diamond Corporation named after Abertawe and now renamed Dominion Diamond Corp.
He also worked for a number of companies and as a self-employed mineral property prospector and contractor, gaining more than 50 years’ experience in the mining industry.
Mr Thomas was named PDAC Prospector of the Year for 1999 and was one of four individuals inducted into the Canadian Mining Hall of Fame in 2009.
