Cornish Lithium completes Trelavour second drill

Cornish Lithium Ltd said it had completed its second hard rock drilling campaign and built a demonstration mineral concentrator plant for the company’s Trelavour project in St Austell, Cornwall.

BATTERY GRADE

Test work is also being conducted to optimise the extraction of lithium from mica minerals in the granite.

This involves processing approximately 30 tonnes of granite to produce a mica mineral concentrate.

Cornish Lithium will use Lepidico Ltd’s extraction technology to produce battery grade lithium chemicals from the mica concentrate.

Results will inform the project’s scoping study, which is partly funded through a grant awarded in April 2021 by the Government’s Automotive Transformation Fund (reported to be more than £680,000), said the company.

CONCENTRATOR PLANT

Cornish mineral processing consultancy and laboratory, Grinding Solutions Ltd constructed the demonstration mineral concentrator plant.

The company’s site is being used to refine the plant design that Cornish Lithium intends to use on lithium-bearing granites extracted from the Trelavour project.

Cornish Lithium expects its first mineral resource estimate (MRE) during autumn 2021, which will define the potential scale of the project.
